This year marks Red Bull Musics 10th year of involvement in Notting Hill Caribbean Carnival – one of the biggest and diverse in the World.
Usually Red Bulls Carnival events have been low key – taking place in hidden areas along the Carnival route, only accessible to those in the know, or those lucky enough to bag one of the limited number of tickets they make available to the public.
However in 2017 they switched it up, taking over a whole park with a massive sound system on the Sunday, then in collaboration with Carnival Mas Band and float veterans Mangrove hitting the road with a specially designed carnival float with live performances from the some of biggest names in Soca and Reggae. Last year they had Soca supremo Bunji Garlin, and headlining the outdoor festival was Popcaan.
This year is the same format – on Sunday Aug 26th the free sound system will be in the same location – Emslie Hornimans Pleasance Park with a secret headliner joined by Maleek Berry, Afro B and Team Salut, Hood Celebrity, Lisa Mercedes, Trillary Banks, Alicai Harley and more.
Emslie Hornimans Pleasance Park
The headliner for Sunday will be announced shortly before Carnival Weekend.
On the Monday August 27th Red Bull Music will hit the road with their biggest and loudest float truck on the official carnival route, with sets from The Heatwave and performances from Patrice Todgers and ‘Prince Of Soca’ Iwer George.
Matthew Phillip leader of Mangrove says:
“We’re excited to team-up with Red Bull Music once more as we mark our long history at Carnival. We’re going to be building on last year’s collaboration, bringing over some of the best soca acts and creating the biggest truck on the road for our 40th anniversary!”
On Monday August 20th there will be a carnival warm up at Mangroves West London HQ where you can get involved with making carnival costumes and traditional Jamaican classics like jerk chicken.
