REVIEW: 1xtra Live

After a five year absence 1xtra live finally returned to London for its biggest outing yet. The 02 Arena was filled with 16000 fans ready to see some of the biggest UK and international artists perform live on the big stage.

Every artist brought their A game. Tottenham rapper Chip sent the crowd crazy performing his classics plus some cuts from his latest album release.

RnB supremo Jorja Smith serenaded the crowd with tracks from her repertoire and got the crowd bumping with her uptempo track On My Mind.

Ella Mai had the whole arena singing along to her hits Boo’d up and Trip.

Local artist Yxng Bane brought the energy with his collection of Afrotrap bangers including Rihanna plus he brought out D Block Europe to perform cuts from their collaborative album.

Kojo Funds also made an appearance shutting down his set with all his biggest hits including Who Am I , Finders Keepers and Dun Talkin.

Birmingham rapper MIST also killed it with bangers from his catalogue including Karla, Game Changer and more.

Afrobeats superstar Davido had the whole arena doing this best shaku as he brought those Wavey vibes with a full pyrotechnics setup literally setting the stage on fire.

Leading Rap Dj Charlie sloth brought out north London rappers Ambush and Headie One who sent the crowd into mosh pits. Headie Ones performance of his track “Know Better” went down well plus Ambush performance of his breakout track “Jumpy” was reloaded about three times – the crowd couldn’t get enough!

Pusha T brought the energy performing his classic hits including “I Don’t Like” and “Mercy” plus tracks from his latest EP/mini album Daytona. Curiously his biggest track of the year Drake diss “Story Of Addidon” was left out of the set.

Finally, closing things off was Chance The Rapper who dropped all of his biggest tracks to an eager crowd.

A host of UK celebs watched from the stands including Big Tobz and Krept and even MIST decided to come out from back stage and join the crowd with full entourage in tow.

In all it was another massive event from 1xtra – all the artists went hard and the 1xtra DJs also brought the laughs with their hosting between sets.

If you weren’t there you missed out but you can catch up on Iplayer

Lets hope this live showcase continues for many years to come!
